What is kerb rash on alloy wheels?

On most cars the alloy wheel hits the kerb before the tyre does. The damage is scraping on the face or lip of the wheel. It is not paint damage and has nothing to do with your panels.

What kind of repair does it need?

Wheel refurbishment. The damaged area is filled, sanded back to shape and refinished in the original colour. Many mobile repairers do it at your place.

Class of work Wheel refurbishment. Not bodywork.

This is a wheel shop's job, not a panel shop's. Diamond-cut and split rims are harder than a standard painted alloy.

What to do next

Call a mobile wheel repairer, not a panel shop. Ask for a package price if more than one wheel is scraped. If your wheels are diamond cut, with a bright machined face, say so. That needs a lathe. If the damage reaches the tyre seal, or the wheel is bent or cracked, get it checked before you drive on it.
