What to do if a chemical is eating your car paint right now
Something corrosive is on the panel and it is still working. Brake fluid, battery acid, bleach and paint stripper keep eating into the paint while they are wet. The difference between a small mark and a stripped panel can be minutes.
What kind of repair does it need?
Nothing yet. What this becomes depends on how long it stays on. Flush it with a hose, with lots of water, for longer than feels necessary. Do not wipe it, because wiping spreads it onto clean paint. Use only water.
This is not a repair yet. The damage is still happening. What it becomes depends on what you do in the next few minutes.
What to do next
Once it is flushed and dry, check it again. You will be asked what the chemical was, and by then you will know. If you cannot flush it where the car is, drive somewhere you can before you do anything else.
