What is a dent near an edge or body line?
The paint is not broken, which is good. The problem is where the dent is. Paintless repair works from behind the panel. Edges of doors, bonnets and boots are folded shut, so there may be no way to reach it. Body lines and sharp curves are stiffer and resist being pushed back.
What kind of repair does it need?
Maybe still paintless, and maybe not. A good specialist can tell you quickly. Sometimes they get it most of the way rather than perfect. If it cannot be done, it is conventional repair and painting.
The same method, but the technician may not be able to reach behind this spot. Access decides it, not the size of the dent.
What to do next
Get a paintless specialist to look before you accept a panel shop quote. Ask if they can reach it from behind. If they say partly, ask what it will look like, and decide if that is good enough for the lower price.
