What is texture mismatch on car paint?

Factory paint is sprayed by robots and has a very even texture. Paint sprayed by hand has its own texture. Matching the two takes skill. When it is not matched, two panels can be the same colour but still look different, because they reflect light differently.

What kind of repair does it need?

Sanding and polishing the repainted panel to match the texture. That works as long as enough clear coat is left. If the difference is too big, the panel is sprayed again with the gun set differently.

Class of work Flatted and polished, or painted again if it goes deep — by whoever painted it.

Depth decides it, and either way it is part of work you already paid for. If the fault is in the clear coat, it is sanded flat and polished. If it is in the colour underneath, the panel is painted again.

What to do next

Stand at the front corner and look down the side, with a straight line like a gutter reflected in it. If the reflection is sharp on one panel and wavy on the next, photograph it. Take that to the shop. Paid work must be done with care and skill. Ask them to sand and polish it first.
