What is paint bleeding through a respray?
Also calledBleed through
Pink, yellow or red coming up through new paint is bleeding. A colour in the layer underneath dissolves in the new paint and rises into it. Old reds and maroons are known for it, and so is filler mixed with too much hardener.
What kind of repair does it need?
Sealing, then painting again. A sealer coat goes over the area to stop the layer below reaching the layer above. Then the colour goes on. Painting again without sealing brings the stain back.
This is a workmanship fault. The question is not what it costs you. Paid work must be done with care and skill, so it belongs back with the shop that did it.
What to do next
Say the word bleeding and ask what sealer they will use. That one question decides whether it comes back. Paid work must be done with care and skill. If you know the panel had a touch-up or spray-can repair before, tell them. It helps explain the stain.
