What is a silver halo around a paint repair?

Also calledHalo effect in blending areas, Silver halo effect

A ring of lighter or darker metallic around a repair, right where the new paint was blended into the old. It is usually caused by the wrong blending technique on metallics. On light colours it can show as a dark edge instead.

What kind of repair does it need?

Respraying the area with the right technique. It can sometimes be fixed at the colour coat stage, before the clear coat. So the sooner it is raised, the easier it is to fix.

Class of work Painted again - by whoever painted it.

This is a workmanship fault. The question is not what it costs you. Paid work must be done with care and skill, so it belongs back with the shop that did it.

What to do next

Go back to the shop and call it a halo or a blend fault, not a colour mismatch. The colour is right. The flakes are lying wrong, and that has a different fix. Look at it from several angles first, so you can say where it shows.
