What is two-layer paint damage across multiple panels?

More than one colour in the same mark means more than one thing happened. Usually it is a deposit on top of a scratch cut in underneath. This one also crosses a panel edge, which makes it bigger.

What kind of repair does it need?

Two jobs, in order. The deposit comes off first. Then the damage underneath is repaired. Because it crosses onto a second panel, that panel is blended or painted too, so the colour matches across the join.

Class of work Multi-panel refinish. The deepest layer sets the job.

The deepest point of the mark decides the repair. Crossing a panel edge brings in the next panel, because the colour has to match across the join.

What to do next

Do not accept a quote for the clean-up only. Ask what will be left once the deposit is off, and get that priced. Ask how they will handle the second panel. Blending across the join is what separates an honest quote from a cheap one that will not match.
